Adidas’s partnership with designer Yohji Yamamoto takes on perhaps its most eye catching aesthetic. The Japanese designer seems to have put together an interesting collection. Yamamoto takes inspiration from his favorite movies. He is a fan of the science fiction genre, and his work shows it. Previous Adidas Y-3 releases have taken on a similar aesthetic. Still, this is arguably its most daring attempt.
Additionally, we see some new elements. Some models in this collection will now be coming with a Boost midsole. Other pieces include hi-top motifs, unique lacing set ups, color blocked leathers, and crisp cuts.
Check out the detailed images above and let us know what you think in the comments section below. As always, keep up with us on Twitter. Though we wont be seeing them until next year, check back with us for release links the minute any of these drop.
The Adidas Y-3 collection deserves credit for being so well executed to this point. I’m skeptical about a few pieces in this 2017 collection, but the majority of it is inspired.
Not really known for his work with colors, Yamamoto takes on interesting splashes on some of these pieces. One of the other more remarkable things here is the unique partially exposed lacing set up. Though his aesthetic is usually darker, Yamamoto gets playful with a few of these, and I like it.
