Author’s Take

I don’t really have the words for how much hype and excitement there is for this drop. To be fair, it’s understandable to be excited. The Air Jordan, in and of itself, is a trailblazer. Released in 1995, this was the first on-court sneaker to use patent leather. The glossy material gives the upper a premium look while maintaining functionality.

It originally released in both mid and low cut versions. In fact, the 11 was Jordan brand’s first attempt at launching sneakers on Saturdays. The brand noticed that many kids skipped school to buy their J’s. Because of this, the Jumpman started going with weekend releases.

For the lucky few who will be able to get their hands on a pair at retail price, I applaud you. This is one of those rare $220 tags that might actually be worth it. Additionally, it will be interesting to see how retailers’ new raffle systems will handle this test.
